We drove to Charleston, SC to attend Rob's nephew Patrick's graduation ceremony from the Naval Nuclear Power School. This is a really big deal. Less than 1% of all Naval personnel can be called "Nukes" and it just so happens that now Patrick is an active duty "Nuke", his dad Cullen, is a retired "Nuke!"
After the ceremony this morning, we got back in Levi and we were back home in NC by 4:30 this afternoon. That's almost 500 miles round trip, spending the night at Trisha's sisters, eating a supper of genuine imported NC BBQ, and, attending the graduation ceremony, in just a little over 24 hours. Whew, we're tired this evening.
Pat and his dad are due in later tonight. They are staying in a local motel, and will be over in the morning to visit. Their plans are to leave later in the day, and start a multi-day, cross-country trip to Seattle, WA.
The ceremony was held aboard the USS Yorktown (CV-10), which is permanently moored at Patriot's Point in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Just click here, to learn more about the floating museum. We wished we would have had time to see more, but it was oh my gosh humid, and we wanted to get back home ahead of the holiday weekend traffic.
Of course, pictures were taken, and here are a few of them......
And to wrap it all up this evening, here's our special wish to all of today's graduates no matter where their careers take them......
Fair Winds, and Following Seas......
