Five Years and Forty-Seven Nights.....

Happy Tuesday afternoon everyone.  It's Pod here today taking on the blogging duties.  And I'm excited too.  Rob told me this morning it has been five whole years (12/29/2009) since I came to live with my people.

What a grand adventure it has been.  I have my own Pod-Port, my own blog, two great camping cousins (Splash and Cup), just about every accessory you can imagine, more mods than I can count and I've camped 47 nights this year to boot!

I've had a blast this whole time, got to camp with lots of other pods, T@Bs, T@DAs, Scotties, Airstreams, and who knows what all types of campers.  To celebrate this past season, and my 5th anniversary with my family, Rob created this collage of who else?  Why me of course!

So thanks for checking in today.  Rob told me the blog is going to take a few days off.  I along with the rest of Team R&T want to wish everyone a safe, happy, and joyous New Year.

Until next time, stay safe out there......-POD

To the Top of the Light......

Happy Saturday everyone.   It's been a quite day around the campground for us. Rob started his day with a long beach walk and was rewarded with some great sunrise pictures.   Then he cooked bacon and cheese omelets for breakfast, and did a few campsite chores.

After getting ourselves together for the day, we did a bit of shopping in the camp store, then drove into Frogmore (just up the road a bit) for a little more shopping, gas for Truck, and some fresh shrimp for supper.

Afterwards we walked around the campground scouting sites for a return trip we are planning next Christmas break.

But to back up a bit, yesterday (Friday) Trisha, Rob and Kevin went over to the Hunting Island Lighthouse.  Trisha walked Remi while Rob and Kevin climbed the light to see the view and take a few pictures.

Here's a few of the pictures Rob took.....

Rob and Trisha did something else fun on Friday afternoon too, but that's for another blog post.  You'll just have to check back later to find out.   Anyways, thanks for checking by today.

Until next time, stay safe out there.....-R,T, but no J.

Christmas at the Campground......

Good Friday evening everyone.  We did lots of fun things today, but we're not going to tell you about them.  Instead we're going to post a few pictures of all the different Christmas decorations Rob saw around the campground on his morning walk.  Enjoy......

It was fun to see all the different ways other campers celebrated Christmas at the Campground.  Check back tomorrow to learn some of the things we've been up to today.

Merry Christmas Y'all.....

Merry Christmas from Hunting Island State Park.  This has been a great day.  Rob started shortly after daylight this morning firing the grill and then smoking both a pork butt for lunch today, and a ham for potato soup over the weekend.

The smoked pork sure was yummy, and thanks to Kevin for the sweet potatoes and salad, our entire Christmas Dinner at the beach
was just awesome.

Rob also wanted to post a few pictures outlining the vinyl window inserts he made for the windows in the r-dome.  He got this idea from the r-pod Facebook page.

First, Rob laid out the panel the window
insert was going to be made for.

Here's a picture of the rolled up vinyl as
Rob received it.  He ordered it from a vendor
on Ebay.

Here's a picture of the vinyl insert cut and
some sticky back velcro Rob cut to match
the velcro on the dome.

This is the vinyl on the floor of the shop so
it could be cut.

Here's a completed picture of the two
panels with the vinyl attached.

Here's what it looks like in
the wild camping.
Just like having windows.

A close up picture of the clips
used to keep the vinyl in place
along the top edge.

velcro attachments.

A better view of the clips used
to hold the top of the window
inserts to the dome.
We sure hope everyone had a great Christmas Day.  Ours has been just grand.   We're not sure what are going to do tomorrow, but it will most likely involve leaving the campground.  Haha.

Until next time, stay safe out there.....-R,T, but no J.

Pi gets a Neck-ti.....

And other crazy stuff from the beach.  Happy Christmas Eve everyone, we're taking a break as the last round of rain is about to arrive to send everyone our Christmas wishes from Hunting Island State Park.

We left home about 6:00 yesterday morning, stopped for breakfast at a local cafe, and hit the road for what should have been an easy 300 mile drive to Hunting Island State Park Campground.  The first part of the trip across back roads of both North and South Carolina were great.  When we hopped on I-95, the trouble began.  After about 15 miles we hit a traffic back up because of a wreck.  It then took us 2 hours to drive 8 miles.  Can you say UGH??

Anyway we got here, set up camp, fixed a big pot of chili for supper, then kicked back and relaxed in the dome and visited with our podding friend Kevin Olds of Home Pod fame.

This morning started with a breakfast casserole, whop biscuits, and then finishing setting up camp between rain showers.  The rest of the day will be lounging in the dome, maybe watching a movie, and just hanging out.

Here's a few pictures of our trip so far....
