Stickers, Fun, and Food......

Happy Saturday morning all.  We hope this latest post finds everyone enjoying their weekend so far.   As you can tell from the title, this little post will be all over the place, so lets get started.

******STICKERS******

Yep, don't worry, this trip involved stickers.......

*****FUN*****

There was fun to be had.......

*****Food*****

And of course food was involved.  Be it square sausage, and cinnamon rolls, a patty melt from a local restaurant, a hot dog cookout, or an all night cook of a big hunk of pig on the GMG for today's covered dish supper!!

*****MISCELLANEOUS*****

Have to have a miscellaneous picture
(A carpenter bee trap)

*****Extra Credit*****

And for extra credit, make up a caption or story to go with the picture.  Bet you can't guess who this is......well maybe you can
after all if you think about it a quick minute.

So as you can see, yesterday was a pretty random day.  Let's just sit back and see what today may bring.   I do know we're breaking most of our camp later this morning.  Rain is forecast to move in and we may have a rainy morning for hitching up and pulling out, but we've done that before.  So have a great weekend, and as always......

Until next time, stay safe out there.....-R,T,&J

A Thursday Sort of Day......

Happy Friday everyone from Townsend, Tennessee.  We're still camping at the KOA, attending the world famous Tink's Spring Fling.   We've had a great trip so far, so pull up a seat at let me tell you about Thursday.

Our morning started with a some rain, which started just as Jackson and Rob stepped out from under the awning for Jackson's early morning walk.  As you can bet, that was one of the shortest dog walks in the history of dog walks!!  Thankfully, in just a short while, the rain moved on and the skies started to clear for what was to become a beautiful mountain day.

We started our day with breakfast and a little bit of horse trading between Mark and Rob.   Seems back late last year, Mark had ordered this special cast iron skillet from Lodge.  Rob missed out, because it was a limited production, and sold out very quickly.   Some how between computer issues, and multiple phone calls by Mark to pay for his skillet, he managed to buy two skillets.   So of course, Rob bought the extra skillet from Mark.

All the while, a hearty camping breakfast of waffles and bacon was being fixed and eaten.  (Yes, we can multi-task when food is involved!)

After breakfast, Susie went off to "work from camper" and Mark, Trisha, and Rob all loaded up in Ruby (Sue and Mark's new truck) to go explore Elkmont Campground.

Even with no hookups, we decided this would be a great place to camp in the future.   By now it was getting close to sandwich thirty, so we rode back to camp, had sandwiches, naps, walks, etc. and greeted the last few podders to arrive.

We rode over to the dulcimer store, for Sue to have a good look, and word on the street is she may go back today and make a purchase.....

After our ride to the Dulcimer shop and back, we gathered for a quick dinner of burgers, steaks, and chips on the charcoal grill.  Of course we managed to sit outside for the rest of the evening and tell tall tales, and fix a camper or two in the process......

And just like that, before you know it, this particular Thursday was in the books and it was bedtime.

Now there are plans for the day, but at this point we've not made them just yet, so we can't share them with you.  If you'll drop back by tomorrow, you can read all about them right here.

Until next time, stay safe out there.....-R,T, &J.

Lunch With a View......

Good Thursday morning everyone.   The gang is back camping for the last few days of Spring Break 2017.   Our original plans were to be at the beach this week, but a few months back, we changed them to join friends, other podders, and even ex-podders for a little rally known far and wide as Tink's Spring Fling.

We're gathering at the KOA on the "Peaceful side of the Smokies" here in Townsend, TN.  Yesterday was a travel day for us.  We encountered rain, drizzle, gloom, drove through clouds, and by the time we arrived here, it was sunny and nearly hot!

We had an uneventful drive, making two comfort stops, one fuel stop (not really necessary, but Rob just wanted to be safe) and even a stop for lunch.   You can see our lunch stop below......

We were traveling on US 441 also known as Newfound Gap Road. Rob had pulled over to use my bathroom and Trisha ordered cheese crackers for lunch.  So Rob grabbed a tub of Palmeto Pimento Cheese and a sleeve of Ritz Crackers from Pod,  and as we traveled along up and over the mountain, lunch was Pimento cheese and Ritz crackers.

We arrived here about 1:30 in the afternoon, got checked in, and proceeded to set up camp.   We have a very nice campsite.  In fact, there seems to have been lots of improvements made to this KOA since we last camped here several years ago.   Here are a couple pictures of our set-up......

You'll notice we didn't set up the dome, but set up the quick awning and The Clam for the few days we'll be here.   It just so happens that Rob is sitting out in the Clam this morning, listening to a gentle rain shower (that is supposed to move on by in the next hour or so).

Food is always important on any camping trip, and last evening for supper, those of us here gathered at Tink's place for french dip sandwiches, chips, and homemade brownies.   It was all yummy, but we forgot to take any pictures.  The plan for breakfast this morning includes waffles, bacon, sausage maybe, and who knows what else.

One last picture for this morning.   A short part of our drive yesterday took us along the Blue Ridge Parkway.  The views weren't so grand, but we did have that section of the BRP pretty much all to ourselves.  Rob stopped at an overlook to take this picture, and I think it's going to be one of his favorites.....

Well we're going to sign off for now.  Everyone have a great Thursday, check back in the morning to see how this day unfolds, and as always......

Until next time, stay safe out there......-R,T, & J.
