I'm blogging today because Rob and Trisha have been very busy this week doing some cleaning and getting new appliances installed. They bought a New HE washer and dryer, and a huge new side-by-side refrigerator. It only took Lowes two days to deliver them all. I think Rob was a little frustrated with the experience, but in the end, everything worked out. The old fridge will be going to the local Habitat for Humanity, and the old washer and dryer are going to a friend.
I did spy the UPS truck making a stop just after lunch today, so I had my wheels crossed it was something for me. Sure enough, Rob had searched on Amazon and bought me a new fantastic fan smoked lexan vent cover. Just take a look.....
It will be replacing this factory original vent cover......
Rob said this was a quick and easy mod. If fact he said it took longer to get out the ladder, etc., than to actually do the mod.
He said there were only four screws to remove, then carefully take the control arm out of it's track in the vent cover, reverse the process, and you're done. Here's a finished picture.....
Rob also fixed the light switch for the bathroom that was pretty much wired wrong at the r-pod factory. You see, the bathroom light switch also controlled the vent fan too. It's never really been an issue until this season. Before my first camping trip this spring, Rob installed an upgrade kit to my vent fan, making it totally automatic. Trisha said he did it because it involved a remote control. I just know it's neat!
Whatever the case, the vent being controlled by the bathroom switch caused it to "forget" it's automatic settings when the switch was turned off. Today, Rob fixed that. Here's a picture of the switch removed from the wall as it came from the factory.....
Next here's a picture of Rob's fluke meter he used to verify the "hot" wire feed.....
Next all Rob had to do was to disconnect the power lead for the fan from the power lead for the light and attach the fan's power lead directly to the "hot" wire for the switch.....
I know it's hard to tell anything from the pictures, but basically Rob just had to change how the fan's power lead was hooked up to the circuit.
Rob also did a bit of caulking in the bathroom around the shower control fixture. From time to time water has been leaking down behind the shower controls and running out on my floor. Rob tightened a few loose connections and then caulked everything good.
Two more bits of news. First, I'm going camping next week in the mountains to a completely new campground, named Toe River Campground in Burnsville, NC. Splash T@B and Cousin Sharon will be joining us for the week!! Second, Rob as added a 2015 trips page. See the tab above. I already have two trips scheduled for next year!!
Have a great rest of the week. Be sure to check back to hear all about my mountain adventure with Splash.
Until next time, stay safe out there.....-Pod
