Mayberry Campground, Saturday Fun......

Greetings from Mayberry Campground.  We woke up to a wet, misty morning, but by mid-morning the sun was peeking through the clouds.  Saturday turned out to be a beautiful day here in Mayberry Land.  I made quick trip to Hardee's for sausage biscuits for everyone for breakfast.  About 11:00 am we all loaded up and were off on our day of sight seeing.

Our first stop was in Mt.Airy to get our pictures made with Andy and Opie (well their statues anyway.)  We walked around the downtown shopping district for awhile.  Of course we walked by Snappy Lunch, a Mt. Airy favorite.

My favorite stop was the Fancy Gap Outfitters.  No only did the dogs get to go inside to shop, they have lots of neat stuff.  We wound up getting t-shirts for us and my mom, a hat for me, sunglasses for Trisha, and a neat sticker for the back window of the pod.

After touring downtown Mt. Airy, Sharon, Becky and the schnauzers went sightseeing, and we drove down to Pilot Mountain.  I used to live there in the late 1990's.  I toured Trisha around the little town, went to see if an old friend was at home (he wasn't), and then drove out in the country to see the house I lived in.  It was fun to drop by for a quick visit.

Then it was back to the campground for some lunch (Arby's) and some relaxing.   Later that evening we fixed a great dinner and ate in the outdoor dining room. HAHA.

Then to round out the evening, we set up the TV outside and watched the Kentucky vs. Louisville game until it became too chilly to sit outside.  What a great day camping and visiting with our cousins.

Of course, Sunday will bring loading up and heading back home but that's o.k. too.  At least the weather will be nice and we won't have to rush to get out of camp before a rain storm.  Check back later this week for more pictures of our weekend camping.  Don't forget we leave for Edisto a week from today.  We are so excited.  So until next time, stay safe out there...-R,T,&J.
