A Bridge to Somewhere.....

Happy Monday evening all.  It's Pod here to let you know all about our Monday.  Our day started bright and early when Jackson woke Rob up for his early morning walk.  The temps were in the low 60's and Rob said they felt so good after the heat and humidity back home.  

Breakfast was a yummy breakfast casserole made with something called "square sausage" and eggs straight from the farm (thanks Mary Sutton.)

The whole group was lazy this morning, and just hung out in The Clam.  Rob showed Cousin Sharon some tricks she could do with her iPhone and Macbook Pro.  

Finally around noon, Sharon, Trisha, Jackson, Murphy, Gracie, and Rob loaded up in Levi and went to town.  Seems that a Wal-Mart stop was in order.  Afterwards, they stopped by the New River State Park to see the campground.  We have all camped there before, but we wanted to see how it was being maintained.  We're glad to report all is well there.  Plus, Sharon bought a sticker, a bandana, and a hat, while Rob bought stickers with emphasis on the "s".  

The a quick stop at the New River General store, to get a snack, and Levi said they crossed "the bridge to somewhere."  Seems that Rob had looked at the map while waiting at Wal-Mart and found a great new road to ride on.  Cranberry Creek Road is a great little paved road, curvy, with beautiful views.  The best part was before long we were riding along the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway.  

After a nice ride along the Parkway, it was back to camp, where we walked doggies, Trisha and Jackson joined me in an afternoon nap, and Cousin Sharon, Murpy, and Gracie did the same with Splash.  

A nice afternoon storm rolled through, and Rob hung out in The Clam enjoying the cool air, rain, and seeing how The Clam did in it's first storm.  Rob said The Clam did great!! 

Supper was a yummy Taco Bake cooked in a Camp Dutch Oven, and now Trisha, Rob,  and Jackson are sitting in The Clam watching TV.  Boy they've got it made don't they.

Howdy From The Holler.....

Happy Sunday evening from The Holler everyone!!  It's Pod here today, and Rob said he'd let me blog again if I behaved.  So I'm back blogging!! YIPEE!!!

Anyways, Trisha, Jackson, Rob, and I are camping with Cousin Sharon and her doggies Murphy and Gracie.  We're camping at Raccoon  Holler Campground in Glendale Springs, NC and we plan on having a grand week!!

It was oh-my-gosh humid when we left home about eleven this morning.   Two hours later when we got here, it wasn't nearly as humid, but it was quite warm.  Today and tomorrow are supposed to be pretty hot Rob says, but then the rest of the week should have nice summertime in the mountain weather.  

In just an hour or so, Trisha and Rob had me all set up, along with my pole awning, and our brand new Clam.  The Clam is a quick set up screen room, that we all got to see at the ERU.  After hanging out with Susie and Mark in their Clam, we had a team meeting and decided we needed one too.  

So far I'm happy to report that we all just love it, even Jackson!!!

Rob even took a couple of those "pano" pictures with his iPhone.  I think he really likes taking those.....

After hanging out in The Clam all afternoon, cooling off and relaxing some, the gang let me keep the pups and they went to eat supper.  I heard them say it was really good, and they even brought back something called "leftovers."

This evening as the sun is going down, so are the temperatures, and I predict it will be an early night and everyone will sleep really, really sound.  

Well that's about it for this evening.  I haven't heard the plans for tomorrow yet, so I guess you'll just have to check back to see what they all got into.  As always......

Stickers? What Stickers??

Happy Sunday everyone.  It's Pod here with the final wrap-up blog post for our OBX trip.  We left there about 6:00 a.m. yesterday morning, stopped once for fuel, once for comfort, and I was sitting in my Pod-Port about 1:30 yesterday afternoon.  

Before long, Rob had cleaned, and stowed the camping gear, washed and vacuumed Levi, washed and dried me, and generally had everything squared away.  Trisha got laundry going, and this morning, my bed got stripped, food emptied, and I got swept out.  Oh, Rob also did a neat little mod too.  I'm sure he'll be posting about it.  

In fact, this may be my last post for awhile, and you'll see why.  You see, it seems Rob has this thing about stickers.  You should see his sticker collection.  Here's a picture of stickers he bought just this trip alone.....  

And that's not counting the half dozen or so he's already stuck on Levi, Rod, and myself.  He bought way more than this on the Michigan trip, and then he has a box full of neat stickers from past travels.  

Here's me, and this isn't all the stickers I have stuck on me.  Each window has a sticker on it....  (See if you guess which two are new from this trip.)

Without Ice Cream......

Happy Friday evening all!  It's Pod here, blogging one last time from the Outer Banks.  It's been a grand week, and one I'm sure we'll all remember for a long time to come.  

At this point in the evening, nearly everything is packed away, I'm hooked to Levi, and there are only a few things needing to be done in the morning to leave.  Rob wants to leave around six in the morning.  

So, about tonight's blog title, whenever Trisha and Rob go camping, ice cream is always involved.  If it's only Klondike Bars in my freezer, there is ice cream around.  This evening they decided to go to an ice cream parlor called "Happy Belly." 

In fact to quote the sign in the window of the Happy Belly...

"Without Ice Cream There Would Be Darkness and Chaos"

I don't think you'd get any argument from Trisha and Rob about that at all.  

 After eating their ice cream,  they went riding on the beach one last time.  They told me when they got back from their ride, the ice cream did make their bellies very happy indeed.

They said this was the perfect way to end the last evening here at the Outer Banks.  

Well that's it for this evening.  I think everyone is kinda tired, including Jackson, and they are most likely going to get to bed a little early.  Thanks for following along with us this evening.

A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean......

Happy Thursday evening everyone.  It's Pod back again with today's OBX report.  I'm sorry for not blogging yesterday evening, but Wednesday was really a repeat of Tuesday, so Rob said I could take a day off.  

Our title tonight is with apologies to Mr. Jimmy Buffet of course.  But Rob told me he though of it when they all got to the beach this morning, picked a nice spot, parked, and right there was a sand crab looking after his ocean front home.  

So of course Rob moved down the beach just a bit to leave Mr. Crab all to himself.  The funny thing is, only after Trisha and Rob got all set up for the morning, Jackson spied three more sand crabs within about 15 feet of their location, and spent he rest of the morning watching them.

Levi told me they all got the the beach early (7:30 am) and didn't leave until about noon.  After leaving the beach, the rode along the Inside Road, and checked out Ramps 43 and 44 (whatever those may be.)

One of the treats of this exploring is they got to see the Cape Hatteras Light House from the ocean side, a view not everyone gets to see, or even takes the time to see.

Then it was back to the campground to shower, rest, and fix some sandwiches for lunch.  Later on after a power nap or two, Trisha and Rob made a quick t-shirt and sticker run.  At the moment they are both in the pool, and I think I heard that Rob is going to fix grilled shrimp and steak for supper.

The Life of the Beach Doggie......

Happy Tuesday evening all.  It's Pod back blogging this evening.  I sure hope everyone had a grand Tuesday cause I know our gang sure did.  

It started when the Sun woke up this morning.  Jackson (The Beach Doggie) and Rob were out shortly after six for their long morning walk.  By seven Trisha, Jackson, and Rob were loaded into Levi and they were off to the beach for the morning.  Levi told me that Rob fished all morning and only caught one grouper.  It's ok though, cause just as he reeled it in, a fella in a special beach buggy type of wheelchair who was being rolled up the beach got to see the fish and it put a great big smile on his face.  

The gang came back about noon.  Rob grilled burgers for lunch, everyone cleaned up, and they they took off again to go exploring, do a bit of grocery shopping, and just riding around.  Levi told me they did find where they're going to hangout tomorrow morning.  It's at something called a ramp 49 on the inside road.  

This evening, after naps and some swimming pool time, Rob fixed crab cakes and shrimp for dinner.  Trisha and Rob ate outside and they said it sure was yummy.  

While they were swimming, I asked Jackson what he did on the beach.  He told me he barked at random things, watched Rob's fishing line to see if it moved, tried to chase a bird, drank lots of water, and just worked on his tan.  I think that sounds just grand.

What a Fine Day......

Happy Monday evening all.  It's Pod here again and it's been a fine day here at the Outer Banks.  I've been told, that a good day at the beach is better than any sort of day anywhere else.  

Today has included fishing (and catching), beach hanging, grilling out burgers for lunch, t-shirt, hat, and sticker shopping, naps, swimming in the pool, grilling steaks for dinner, and even a few pictures were taken.

And one final bit of information about our day.  When I asked Rob exactly how many stickers he bought today, his reply was, "More than one...."  Well that about sums it all up I guess.
