Pod Mod Odds and Ends......

Welcome back on this almost last day of January 2013.  The first camping trip of 2013 is getting closer with each passing day!  YIPEE!

Here's a quick post to finish showing off the latest Pod Mods.  The first mod is the mounting of the Artsy Clock Rob did.

Here you can see Pod's new clock mounted beside the door.  Rob used a command hook.  These are one of the best things ever invented!

Rob has been looking for a while for something good to mount things to the wall of the pod which didn't require drilling holes and was easily removable.   This is what he discovered.

These use that hook and loop sorta stuff, except it isn't that hook and loop sorta stuff if you understand what we mean.  If your confused that's o.k.  All that is important is it seems to be working good so far.

These strips worked great for hanging our Cheerwine license plate.  Click on the link to learn all about Cheerwine!

This is all of our Pod Mods for now.  We do have one or two more on the back burner we are thinking about.  You'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Thanks for checking in today.  Until next time, stay safe out there.....-R,T,&J.

Saturday Afternoon at the RV Show.....

Welcome back this morning.  The ice/slush is nearly gone, and the sun is shining bright.  We met Cousins Becky and Sharon at the RV show in Charlotte.  It cost $7.00 to park, $9.00 each to get in.  You don't even want to know what a ham and cheese sandwich, small bag of chips, and soda for two cost!

We only had our cell phones with us for pictures, so the quality isn't so good.  We saw all sorts of RV's.  In fact, after about an hour of walking all around the show, we were all on RV overload.  HAHA!

Here are a few shots from the show.

Here is the view from out side as we walked in.

We saw interesting tents on a trailer.

We saw cute little travel trailers.

More tents in a trailer.

Here it is all set up.

We walked threw a canopy of RV awnings.

Saw OMG colors on RV's.

Ginormous RV's too big to take get all of it in the shot.

Luxury Edition RV's that seemingly left out no luxury, no matter how small.

At last, the one lone r-pod, model R-177.

And finally, this neat graphic on the r-pod.  One may just be appearing on R&T's Pod soon.  This guy does have the right idea doesn't he?

It was fun looking, but we are convinced now more than ever, R&T's Pod is the perfect camper for us.  Thanks for checking by today.

Until next time, stay safe out there......-R,T,&J.

A Frosty Saturday Morning......

Happy Saturday morning!  This morning dawned foggy, grey, and very cold.  We've got all the ice left over from yesterday and maybe a bit more.  The sun is forecast to burn through the fog by late morning.

Rob ventured outside to take a few pictures.  Here are two photo collages for you today.

The plans for the RV show this afternoon are still on at this point, but we will see.

Until next time, stay safe out there....-R,T,&J.

Another Cold Winter's Day....

Happy Friday! We both had an early dismissal today due to weather conditions going from o.k. to really bad really fast!  Plus the temperature is 24 degrees in the middle of the afternoon.  YUCK!

So with pod all tucked safely tucked away in the "pod-port" and we hope not too cold, we figured we'd tell you about another mod we completed earlier this week.

Once again, it was a wasted space into valuable storage space solution.

Here over the head of the bed is another area of unused space, just begging to be put to use.

With the addition of a wire shelf, we now have some more usable space for storage during our camping trips.

Since this shelf is next to the slide-out, here's a picture of the slide fully extended.

Here's a picture with the slide retracted.  Not to worry, we left plenty of clearance for the slide to do what a slide does.  Slide!

The plan for tomorrow is to meet Cousin's Becky and Sharon at the RV show in Charlotte.  They will be on their way home from a relaxing week at the beach.

Be sure to check back for some pictures from the show.  Until next time, stay safe out there....-R,T,&J.

Pod Mods on a Cold Winter's Day.....

Happy Tuesday on this cold (insert brrrrr!) winter's day here in North Carolina.  Today was a teacher's workday.  While Trisha choose to work, Rob choose to stay home one more day and get a few things done.

Winter is a good time for Pod Mods.  We're not doing much camping, so it gives us an excuse to go shopping for the Pod then spending time in the Pod.  Sorta like a camping trip, without the trip.

The mod we want to show you today is the addition of some small shelves.  One of the reasons for our trip to IKEA yesterday was to purchase 3 small unfinished spice racks.  They were $3.99/ea., and Rob spent the afternoon assembling and staining them.

Here's a picture of the unfinished rack after being assembled.

Here's a picture of the first rack finished and hung in position.  This is next to the bed so it will be a handy place for drinks, glasses, etc.

Here in the entry way, you can see the "pocket wall hanger" which came with the pod.  Rob moved it from the area of the bed to this location.  After three camping seasons, it was becoming sorta ragged looking.  It was also quite a catch-all for all sorts of junk.  So down it came.

In its place the other two spice racks were mounted.  This makes for a neater looking area.  It also places items in a much handier location for Rob no matter if he is cooking inside or outside the Pod.

This is the largest and most involved of  several mods we have made to the Pod over the last week or so.  We will be posting the rest of our mods over the next few days.  (Hey we gotta string this out so we will have something remotely interesting to post about!)

Thanks for checking in today.  Until next time, stay safe out there....-R,T,&J.

An IKEA Kind of Day.........

Happy Presidential Inauguration Day!  The day here in our part of the country stated out clear, and somewhat cold.  But the sun is shining bright, and the temps quickly climbed into the upper 50's.

We had decided yesterday afternoon to make a trek to IKEA over in Charlotte this morning just for fun, and to look for a couple of things for the pod.  We took Rob's mom and she had a grand time.  We also invited cousins Becky and Sharon, but this morning they made a very executive decision to leave for the beach early Tuesday morning.  Also, judging by cousin Sharon's latest blog post on her Postcards Blog, telling all about her monkey-mind kicking in high gear today, it may be a good thing she didn't go to IKEA.  HAHA.

We did get a few things, one of which will be our latest mod to R&T's-Pod.  Be watching over the next few days, because we do have a few mods we've been working on to show you.

For today, here's a couple of pictures from IKEA for you....

We hope everyone has a great rest of your day.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Until next time, stay safe out there....-R,T,&J.

P.S. We forgot to tell you one of the best parts of our trip to IKEA today.  We were there when they opened at 10:00 am.  So we just had to check out their breakfast.  The Breakfast Special was scrambled eggs, bacon, and home fries for 99 cents.  The Monday Special was the same except the price was FREE.  We only had to pay for our drinks and biscuits.  WOW!   -R,T,&J.

Borrowing Ideas......

Happy Saturday!!!

One of the neat things about having both family and friends who love to camp is borrowing ideas from them.  Take for instance Rob's Cousin Sharon who is very artsy-crafty.  We have always loved seeing her one-of-a-kind T@B clocks she has made for her T@B friends.

After seeing her latest post on her SplashT@B blog about the latest clock she has made for a T@B friend.  Rob (who is some what crafty, but more to the shifty side) decided the time had come to try to make one for R&T's-Pod.  Be sure to click on the link above to check out the clock Cousin Sharon made.  Thanks cuz for the idea!

Here are a few pictures, let us know what you think!!

We also have one or two mods to work on this long weekend so be checking back for updates about those.

Until next time, stay safe out there...-R,T,&J.

OH BOY, Today is a .........

The "snow storm" that barreled through here late last night following all the rain we got during the day was just enough to cause the "powers-that-be" to call school off today.  The best thing about this snow day is it will all most likely be gone by lunchtime.  The worst thing will be having to make up the day.  We don't know the plan for when we will make up today, but we are sure we will soon.

So now we have a four day weekend in January.  YIPEE!!  We hope everyone is enjoying whatever weather you are blessed with today. We are sure to be out and about soon, enjoying the "snow day" day.  The best part about today so far has been the sun.  It is shining and beautiful.  We've not seen the sun since sometime last weekend.  UGH!

Here are a two collages we made of pictures from the "storm" for your enjoyment.

As always we sure are glad you stopped by today.  Be sure to enjoy your weekend.  Until next time, stay safe out there....-R,T,&J.

A MOD Kind of Sunday afternoon......

Happy Sunday!  On this warm, partly sunny Sunday afternoon, what was there to do, why go to Lowes and work on the latest Pod Mod.  (Mod is short for modifications.)  Mods are one of the fun things which go along with owning any camper, large or small.

Mods can be original, borrowed (o.k., stolen if you have to be nit-picky), or a combination of the two.  Our mod today was borrowed from other pod owners, and turned out just great.

One of the challenges of owning a smaller camper is squeezing every square inch of storage space out of it.  So we are always on the look-out for storage  creating solutions.  An over-the-bed shelf has been an item of discussion for the past camping season.  Here are a few pictures to better explain.

This is the area over the bed were we had placed our towel rack.  We really do like the towel rack, but it seemed to eat up a lot of area which could possibly be used more efficiently.

So down comes the towel rack, leaving a empty space just begging to be turned into a storage area.

After a trip to Lowes, this wire shelf was added, along with the neat looking storage bins.  This is great storage for all sorts of stuff, including Moose-a-loosa, one of Jackson's toys.

We like how this turned out so much, we may add one of these shelves over the window on the other side of the bed.

Finally in some related camping news, be sure to check out the 2013 Trips page to read all about SPLASH AND POD'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE.  This looks to be our first camping trip of the season, and is only two months away.

Thanks for checking by today.  As always, until next time, stay safe out there....-R,T,&J.

Pod's Afternoon at the Spa.....

Hey there everyone, it's R&T's-Pod here.  I got to make this post today.  It has been awhile since I last made a post, plus this afternoon was just wonderful for me.

The day started off really foggy, and it took until nearly noon for the fog to burn off.  But it was warm, and in the middle of the afternoon here came Rob to take out my rugs and clean them, sweep my floor, clean my bathroom, then mop my floor real good.  It sure did feel good to get all the sand from our last trip out of me.  It was kinda irritating.  HAHA.

But Rob wasn't done yet.  I got a wonderful bath to get all the road grit and grime off of me from my last trip.  I even got way up on my roof washed too with a very long handled brush.  After my bath, I then got all rubbed down with a soft towel.  Talk about first class treatment. WOW!

Look close and you can see the soap suds on my rear window.  How do you like my sticker collection.  I just love it!

Here's a picture of my back corner being washed.  Rob took these pictures with his cell phone camera, so they may look a little strange.  Look close and you can see my long handled brush for getting my roof and the bright blue wash bucket that matches the blue of my name sticker!

Here is my "street" side getting all washed and clean.  I'm feeling sooooooooo good!

You can see the water just glistening on me in the late afternoon sun.  Can you believe in January the afternoon temperature was just above 70 degrees.  Why that's camping weather isn't it?

Here's a neat shot of my rear window after I have been all dried off with a soft towel.

If you happen to notice the Yeti Cooler sticker, it's because Rob got a Yeti cooler for Christmas from his family.  He is excited because he got a new cooler, (he said he only has 8 or 9 others) and I got a new sticker for my collection.

After all the brushes, buckets, soap, towels, and water hoses were put away, Rob had out a tape measure measuring inside me.  He also mentioned something about a trip to Lowes.  That can only mean one thing, more MODS.  YIPEE!  I don't know what he has in mind, maybe he'll post about it in a few days.  I just know I want to go to this Lowes sometime.  Maybe one day when Rob and Trisha are gone some where in the CR-V, Truck will hook me up and take me.  Wouldn't that be a hoot!

Well thanks for checking in today.  As Rob always says, until next time, stay safe out there....-R&T's-Pod.

Crunch Week.....

Happy Friday everyone!  I hoped you survived your week.  Here in our neck of the woods, this has been the week before mid-term exams in school.  Now to say this has been a crazy week would be a mild understatement.  But Rob did find these two pictures on the internet which pretty much summed up our thoughts for the week.

Here is how Rob felt all week, dealing with high schoolers who have realized the time has come (and gone) to get ready for End of Course testing.......

While this picture pretty much sums up how we both felt when we got home today.  ( A little battered, but still happy to be home none the less. )

We're not sure what the weekend will bring.  Rob wants to clean up R&T's-pod real good if the weather gets better.  Trisha hasn't decided yet what the weekend holds in store for her.  Maybe a short trip somewhere.

Thanks for checking by today.  Until next time, stay safe out there....-R,T,&J.
