Visiting with "The Coffee Cup".....

What a cold Sunday morning we woke up to.  Low's in the lower 20's brrrrrr.  On Saturday we rode up to Newton to Cousin Sharon's house to visit her new camper "The Coffee Cup."  Well, o.k., we did visit with cousins Sharon and Becky, also Wendy, and their dogs Murphy and Gracie.

As good as The Cup looks in pictures, it looks even better in person.  Rob took a few pictures (well a bunch) then we walked across the street to a little craft show,  then to Judges BBQ in Hickory for lunch.  Yummy!!

Here are a few of the pictures Rob took of The Cup for you to see.  We won't post too many, we don't want to upstage any posts Cousin Sharon has planned.  Enjoy...

On the way back home we stopped by Best Buy in Mooresville to pick up a few items.  Now that WAS an adventure.  We had to park in the very far last end spot and still be in the Best Buy parking lot. This didn't look good.  In the store we go, and what a madhouse.

We walk around a bit, trying to remember what we were looking for and ran in to Justin, a Best Buy associate.  Well thanks to Justin, we got the printer ink, two memory sticks, external hard drive, iphone car charger, and new TV for the bedroom we were looking for.

Not only did he take us around the store, he took us to a register, checked us out and walked us to the door.  We were in and out of Best Buy in under 30 minutes.  Once back to the truck, we were in shock at what just happened.  There had to be customers in there who had been there for hours already!  WOW!

Then it was back home to play with all our new "toys."  Thanks for checking in today.  Have a great week.  Only 20 more days of school until Christmas Break!!  HAHA!

Until next time, stay safe out there.....-R,T,&J.

Black Friday Fun.......

Hi everyone.  Nope this isn't a report on our Black Friday Shopping adventures.  Although, Trisha did run to Sally's Beauty Supply this morning because her flat iron died an early death a couple of days ago.

Today was mostly spent doing odds and ends, Trisha met with the other Kindergarten teachers to plan the next two weeks of school.  Rob pulled the anode rod out of the pod's water heater, and opened the low point drains.  Seems the weather man predicts lows to be in the  upper 20's tonight.  Rob also washed the pod, truck, and C-RV today.  Tomorrow we are off to Newton to visit The Coffee Cup.  (We might say hello to Becky, Sharon, and Wendy too!)

If you check our Upcoming Trips page, at the bottom you will see our last trip we have planned for the season.  If you check the new Trips Scheduled for 2013 page you can read about the trips we all ready have planned for 2013.  Yes, we have so much to be thankful for!

We'll leave you today with a couple of images of Hunting Island State Park Rob pulled from the web.....

Thanks for checking by today.  We sure hope everyone had a great Black Friday, shopping or no.  Until next time, stay safe out there....-R,T,&J.

Happy Veteran's Day......

Wow!  What a beautiful weekend here in North Carolina.  We are still camping (leaving in the morning to go home) at The Heritage Campground.

Since it is Veteran's Day today, I wanted to post (and in one case re-post) the pictures of two Veteran's who mean the most to me this Veteran's Day.   The first is my dad, and the second is my brother.

Thanks for your service to our country!!

We didn't have a busy day today, but that was on purpose.  Rob fixed sausage, cheese omelets, and "WHOP" biscuits.  (You know, you whop them up against counter to open them!)  After eating, cleaning-up and getting ready, we were off to Raven Rock State Park.  We didn't do any major hiking, but we did tour the visitor center, take a few photos, and give Jackson a good long walk.

On the way back home we stopped in the very small town of Vass, NC.  We were going to pick up a few things at "The Pig,"  or Piggly Wiggly for those of you not in the know.  Believe it or not, this particular Pig isn't open on Sundays.  So a quick stop at Family Dollar, followed by a fuel stop, and we were on our way back to the campground for a lazy afternoon.

Thanks for checking in today, we heading back home in the morning.  Until next time, stay safe out there....-R,T,&J.

The Heritage Campground......

What a great Saturday this has been.  It started out pretty chilly (temps in the 30's) but the day warmed quickly.  We we up early, going out to breakfast about 7:30 am.  Then back home to hook-up, check tire air pressures, and finish loading the camper.

Our first stop was a storage lot to help a crew load up Christmas trees to take to a new storage location.  Rob does a lot of volunteer work for the local chapter of The Arc of Rowan County.  This morning it was loading 50 artificial Christmas Trees to be moved to a new location to get them ready for The Arc's annual Festival of Trees fundraiser.  Then we were on the road about 9:45 am on our way to The Heritage Campground.  We drove through the Uwharrie National Forest.  What a wonderful drive.

We arrived shortly before lunch.  We were met by Amy the "Woman IN Charge."  She directed us to our campsite then sat and visited for awhile before dashing off on her golf cart to take care of someone else.

This is a great campground in the sandhills of North Carolina.  It has a pretty lake, with a great sandy beach area.  The campground is very quite, and very secluded.

Amy invited us to a campground supper.  The menu was "Cream Can" dinner.  Check out the information on their website or just Google "cream can cooking" for more information.  The food, view of the lake, new camping friends were all just great!  Thanks to Amy and everyone else for inviting us to eat with them.

The evening was capped off by a huge bonfire on the beach!  What a way to end the day.  Once the sun went down, so did the temperatures.   So about 7:00 pm we decided to call it an evening and headed back to our pod where our little ceramic heater soon has us toasty warm.

Here are a few pictures of our day for you to enjoy.

Check back again tomorrow to find out what our Sunday holds in store for us.  We are not going home until Monday, since it is a holiday for us.  Until next time, stay safe out there...-R,T,&J.

It's here........

Election Day that is!!  We are both so glad.  Maybe this years election cycle is almost in the books.  But like Rob heard some TV pundit say the other day, the 2016 campaigns begin on Wednesday!  UGH!

We hope everyone has had a great week so far.  Over on Cousin Sharon's Postcards Blog, she made not one but two posts.  The first was about her waking up in a grumpy (grouchy, crabby, cranky, you get the idea) mood.  Apparently her fix involved spending money.  Rob hopes Trisha doesn't read that blog post.  Then Cousin Sharon made a post about election day with lots of neat Sigmon family history.

To celebrate the 2012 Presidential elections, we are going camping this weekend.  YIPEE!  Since Veteran's Day is on a Sunday this year, we get Monday off from school.  So we are off to Heritage Family Campground in Carthage, NC.  This is a private campground in the Eastern Part of the State.  Rob really wanted to go to a NC State Park, but here in NC, the state parks close and LOCK their gates at 6 p.m. this time of year.  Only emergency vehicles are allowed in or out after the gates are locked.  So be looking for posts this weekend about our camping experience at the new to us campground.

Here's a picture from their website.....

Have a great Election Day evening.  Thanks for checking by today and until next time, stay safe out there....-R,T&J
