OBX Wrap-up........

Hello on a hot Saturday afternoon here in North Carolina.  We left the OBX KOA on Friday morning about 7:30 and arrived home a little after 2:00 pm.  The thermometer on the truck's dash was reading 102 degrees as we backed the pod into it's port.  It was so hot we didn't even un-hitch.  We just hooked up to shore power, set the A/C on 80 degrees, switched the fridge back to shore power, and left it all until this morning to sort out.  Rob was out and about around six am.  Everything is pretty much cleaned up, and ready to go again.  Somewhere cooler for sure!!

We went walking on the beach Thursday afternoon, and while Rob didn't see this, apparently Trisha did a forward 3 and a half down the dune and was scored a 9, 9, and 8.5 by the people who were watching.  Funny part was, Trisha didn't really know what happened either!!

We enjoyed our trip very much, are glad to be home, but already trying to decide where our next trip will be.  Here are a few more pictures from our wonderful week on the Outerbanks of North Carolina.

Thanks for checking by today, and check back later this week to see what else we manage to get into.  Until then, stay safe out there....-R,T,&J.

Dinner at the Beach......

Wednesday evening we grilled steak and shrimp.  The steak had been marinating since Tuesday.  The shrimp on the other hand had still been swimming in the Atlantic on Tuesday!

Here's a picture of dinner on the grill.....

Here's a picture of our dinner all ready to eat........

And finally, here's the view from our dining room.....

Everyone have a great Thursday!!!  We are leaving early Friday morning to return home.  Check back later for another OBX update.  Until then, stay safe out there....-R,T,&J.

Wednesday at OBX.......

Greetings from the Outerbanks of North Carolina.  Tuesday was a wonderful lazy day just spent relaxing around the campgroud and beach.  Then in the afternoon we did manage to make a trip to the local Food Lion.

Wednesday has been another beautiful day, with low humidity, less windy and a touch warmer.  All in all, a perfect OBX day.  We loaded up this morning and drove all the way south to the ferry.  The dock was crowed, so we went by the "Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum," and did some shopping.  Jackson and I went down on the docks to take a few pictures, then we stopped and bought some fresh local shrimp to grill later for supper.  YUM!

Here are a few pictures we took for you to enjoy.

That's all for today!!  Check back tomorrow for another update, until then, stay safe out there....-R,T,&J.

Jackson Reports in from OBX.......

Hey everyone, Jackson here.  I told dad I wanted to make a post so he said I could tell everyone about the trip to OBX (that's the Outerbanks in case you didn't know.)  Mom and dad left the house early Monday morning but said they would be back shortly.  I guess I didn't believe them, because I pitched a "hissy-fit" as Grandma Von says.  They did come back (they had just gone to breakfast) hitched up the pod and we were soon on the road.  I think mom was excited to go to the beach, because she even made chocolate chip cookies to take.

Now it seemed like I rode in the truck for days, dad says it is only 365 miles, but I'm not sure what a mile actually is.  Our final destination was here, the KOA at Cape Hatteras.

As we rode, I was sooooo bored.  Dad said he would sing for me.....

Now don't tell dad, but he couldn't carry a tune in a bucket!

Then we had to stop on some bridge somewhere, and let this dumb sailboat pass by....

Finally, we got there, checked-in, and set-up camp.

It wasn't too long afterwards that mommy and I were taking a well deserved nap!  (Remember, we had to listen to dad singing in the truck.)

Later that evening we went for another ride, and I got my picture taken in front of something called a lighthouse.

Then finally on Tuesday morning, I got to go play on the beach.

I need to wrap this up for now.  Dad says the internet here isn't too good so he doesn't know how much he'll get to post this week, but he'll try to post everyday.  He also says to tell everyone, "The weather is here, wish you were beautiful."  (Whatever that means.)

Until next time, dad says for everyone to stay safe out there.......-R,T,&J.

Cape Hatteras Bound.......

Happy Monday!!!  If you are reading this on Monday morning, then  we are on our way to the Cape Hatteras KOA for the week. If your reading this on Monday evening, we are there! This trip was a last minute decision we we made this past week.  The weather is supposed to be great, and we are looking forward to a relaxing week of camping, sight-seeing, and relaxing on the beach.

It's hard to believe we will drive a little over 350 miles to get there, and we live in North Carolina to boot!  Check back for a post Monday evening telling you all about our trip to the coast.  Until then here are a few images from the web we grabbed for you to enjoy.

Until next time, stay safe out there.....-R,T,&J.

2012 Eastern Roundup Wrap-up......

We've been back in North Carolina since Monday.  Rob spent the day yesterday washing the cars, truck, pod and pressure washing the shop.  Then our neighbor helped Rob cut down and work-up two small trees.  (Thanks Ed!)  Trisha worked on organizing, cleaning out,  and just generally wrapping up all the papers from this past school year.

Here are a few more pictures of the roundup for you to enjoy.

Have a great Wednesday and check back soon!  Until then, stay safe out there.....-R,T,&J.

A Special Shout Out..................

Back on Jan 10, 2012 at 6:51 p.m., Tink posted on the Nation,

"The Third Eastern Roundup will be held at Kentucky Horsepark on June 13th thru 17th.  The reservation number is 1-800-370-6416.  If you want to come, I have reserved site #198 so try to get closeby.  It is a big park and there is a lot to do in the area.  We had a great time there last year so come and join us!!!  When you make your reservation, please post it so we will know who all is coming!"

Well from that point on, Tink became the fearless un-leader of our Third Eastern Roundup.  We just wanted to tell her from us a great big THANK-YOU for all of her tireless (?), hard (?), and dedicated (?) work in not organizing our roundup.

It is in recognition of all of her non-efforts, we dedicate this blog post to her.  Here are a few pictures of TINK from not only from this roundup, but from roundups past!  Enjoy!!

Check back tomorrow as we close the books on this years 2012 Eastern Roundup.  Until then, stay safe out there.....-R,T,&J.
